Calendar Giveaway Why Wenger Is Not Buying During The Transfer Window
Jan 01

Surely we’ve got to get the three points here. But after that loss to Sheffield I’m not sure of anything anymore. Pardew will be revving his team up to beat Arsene one more time.

We’re probably better than Charlton right now even with all those stupid injuries and on paper should just about nick it, specially since we’re at home. Out injury list BTW grows as Baptista is also ruled out adding to our striker crisis and RVP is doubtful as well. RVP has played almost 3 full games, I dont know how he’s going to remain sharp for this one if he plays. Henry may come back but its still a doubt. This means that Ali will continue up front with RVP.

Cesc should be back and if Hleb plays as well we should just about nick it at the Grove. If we play anywhere as poorly as we did at Bramall Lane it’ll probably be a 1-0 to CHarlton again or it’ll be the old 1-1.

Liverpool have won so we cannot afford to keep dropping points. Come on Gunners..lift yourselves and give us a win.

Fred: I’ve stopped predicting as well :)

Looks like another draw to me. Our defence has been leaking in goals all season and it is getting harder to break down teams who come to Emirates to defend. I like to see Sendoros and Djourou play - 1) to give Toure a breather; 2) Sendoros is better at dealing with high balls and we can expect plenty of them going to Bent. I hope Eboue is back as we sorely missed his runs down the right flank. Without Pires and Reyes, our attacks down the left side are ineffective. Clichy has been very poor attacking down the left side with poor final ball and crossing. Rosicky, Helb and Cesc seem to prefer to play their way thru the middle. Not sure if Henry will be back. RvP needs a break after the mudbath and thuggism in Sheffield but is likely to partner Aliadiere up front. Third place is looking increasingly a big challenge with Liverpool hitting form recently.

I watched the Charlton/Aston Villa game on Saturday and Charlton looked more likely to win even before Barry got sent off. They were very impressive in that they attacked as a team and defended as a team. I’m expecting them to attack us when chances present themselves but they will defend as a team and pressure the ball. Rommedhal looked in inspired form on Saturday. The two Bents also looked lively and linked up fairly well. I’ve been lobbying for us to sign Darren Bent for a few months now, expecting Charlton to go down but based on how they looked Saturday, I don’t think they will.

With us having so many injuries, this may prove to be a tough game. Pardew beat us two times in 2006 so he believes he’s got the answer and he’ll convince his team they can win. If we’re not at our best we will probably lose tomorrow (yes, at The Emirates).

I don’t see us losing at home to Charlton, but as draw is possible… as our injuries continue to hamper us putting our best team out there.

We KNOW the pitch will be much much much better than we saw at Sheffield… so we should be able to string a few more passes together, and get our game, “on the floor” going.

Its been a topsy-turvy kinda season in which we never know what to expect week to week or game to game. I hope a few players step up, and we get the 3 points we desperately need.

Seeing as we’re at home we have to be favourites - especially as Charlton’s away record is W0 D1 L9. Still, with all these injuries god knows what sort of team we have to put out - if Charlton score first I don’t see us winning, and they’re bound to score one, it’s just a matter of when.

It all depends on what team we throw out and how fit they are. Wouldn’t it be great if Gallas, Henry and Lauren appeared on the teamsheet? wouldn’t it be awful if they weren’t fully fit and came off injured or played poorly?

If we do win, nine out of twelve over the Christmas period isn’t bad, as good as the best of the challengers for third place and better than some.

    Wow doom and gloom here.

    Bent is out.

We have a whole team of players out.

The real question I have is will AW play Stokes. He is back from his loan deal, to discuss another one. Whilst we have players out, Henry, Baptista, Walcott & Adebayor would it not be worth giving him a go.

I agree that we should only play players that are 100% fit, the cup games against Liverpool are more important.

Cup win doesn’t guarantee CL, only league position does.

I have stopped hoping for a clean sheet. It’s difficult to see where the goals are going to come from with so many injured strikers. But I can’t dare think of losing. Just watch and hope.

  9. stag133 Says:

Superman has just arrived at the Emirates.

Thierry Henry is in tonites starting line-up next to RVP.

Good Night and Good Luck Charlton.
    The MAN is back.

I predict 3-0 to the Arsenal.

  10. irishgunner Says:

Thierry Henry (penalty) and Justin Hoyte to make it 2-0. Charlton down to ten.

  11. Seattlegooner Says:

Looks like you got that one pegged.

  12. solgooner Says:

WELL 4/0 WAS OK.BUT IT WILL BE DIFFERENT SATURDAY WITHOUT CESC, OR GALLAS HOPE AEEBAYOR IS FIT AND CNA PLAY 4/5/1 WITH HENRY AND PERSY BEHIND HIM

  13. Seattlegooner Says:

4-0 was ok? I guess this is one of those damned if you do, damned if you don’t games. If Arsenal scraped by a bottom team, they should have crushed them and if they crush them then that was what they should have done. 4-0 is 4-0 and I’ll take it every time.
