Arsenal win without Fabregas.
MOTM: Rosicky who struck 2 superb goals against the run of play. The first goal (37′) came off a 1-2 with Hleb with Rosicky’s shot coming from the top of the box in the (R) channel. The second goal (45′) came after his brilliant solo run where he beat 3 players.
Henry scored the 3rd goal (86′) in a solo effort that reminds one and all that he is the ‘WIND’, he is the man, he is Henry. Hoyte who had come on for an injured Eboue (ankle it would appear) headed a pass to Henry. After he received the ball, he passed into space on his (L) so that he could run onto it. Carragher tried to intercept the pass before Henry got to it, but he took it back from Carragher and swooped in on goal where he beat Agger and Dudek.
I’m not going to criticize any individual players in this report. This was a great win without our midfield general. Arsenal had to be patient because we had little posession today and we took our chances (which we created) very well.

Actually, it was Carragher, not Finnan.

I have to say the chemistry between Rosicky and Helb is very good. I guess it is not surprising as both are ex-Bundesliga players, great passer of the ball, strong running with the ball and great in running into space. Both are highly intelligent and technical players which is what Wengerball calls for. They would need to work on the tackling aspect of their games and I think as they get used to EPL football, they will improve that aspect of their game. For Helb, he shud try to shoot more often and hopefully the 2 goals by Rosicky will set an example. Baptista didn’t do much in the game after coming on. It looks like he is still not used to the pace of the English game. I hope he gets a start on Tuesday though. Walcott did slightly better though shud have avoided the halfway line offside decision and who knows, he might have put in his first Arsenal goal. Eboue is proving to be an embarrassment with his gamemanship. I would not be surprised he got sub not bcos of the injury but by his behaviour on the pitch. His rustiness was showing when he left players unmarked and did not challenge Crouch who had a free volley at goal. Hoyte does not offer much in terms of attack but he will provide decent effort in defence. Hoyte will not be able to make the same move like when Eboue sped to the byeline and fired a dangerous low cross that was smouldered by Dudek. Hopefully Wenger and Toure will talk some sense into him as we need him.
Been looking at a few Pool sites after the game. Most of them blame Dudek’s rustiness for all 3 goals. While all 3 goals were well taken, I wonder if Reina could have saved all 3 attempts. In any case, I am glad to have Almunia as the backup keeper. He was solid thruout the game, made a couple of clean catches from crosses, saved a low drive from Alonso(?), made good distribution of the ball, made good decisions when coming off his line and did not create any fracas with opponents when defending setpieces. I can see Lehmann going back to his old bad habit of charging out of his line unnecessarily (Sheffield Utd) and getting into slanging matches with opponents (Chel$ki). Maybe it is time for Lehmann to take another rest.

I have wanted to like Eboue.. but he IS a diver/cheat/whatever… unless AW or Titi sets him straight I would rather see a pub player out there.. but basically we need Ralph back.. I know he has been out for months but he is incredibly solid and I would rather have him rusty than an embarrassment like EE… that being said he “could” be a quality player…but he must get passed this bullshit that no Arsenal fan should have to apologize for…
anyway.. the boys were brilliant… I have thought very highly of Rosicky for some time.. glad he picked now to show his class… Flam/Gil.. excellent in the mid… Send.. MOTM for me… the future looks bright me boys….

I hate Eboue and I couldn’t care less if he left. I don’t care how good he is, or will be, he is an embarrassment to the club - within 18 months he has become the biggest cheat in the history of the club.
Wenger has already told him TWICE to pack in the play acting, yet it just doesn’t seem to be getting through his thick skull. The boy’s a prat.

Agree on Almunia. I was pleasantly surprised and he did well. Hopefullt he plays on Tuesday and we win. That would give him three more games in the nest few weeks - Carling Semi and next round of F.A. Cup. good performances could be used by Wenger to remind Lehmann he has been dropped before.

Agree with comments on Eboue. I hope he was subbed because of playacting not injury. He should be told he is on his last chance.

Yesterday, there were a lot of comments on Stokes’ move to Charlton. Some suggested his went for $$$ in stead of chance for glory (at Celtic). It appears today perhaps it’s all premature talk afterall. Report saying he’s joining the Championship side Sunderland. It does make some sense to me. Roy Keane must be the Irish boys’ hero. Stokes himself is Irish. The Irish link probably would draw him there.

This is just for you Fred.
Wherever he goes… GOOD FOR HIM.
If he gets his chance to play full time, good for the lad.

Well, I must apologise to the lad. I was angry and disappointed with him for apparently choosing Charlton over Celtic, money over glory. It seems that he has decided to go and play for a manager he admires. As this was the sort of thing I wanted him to do, I must now praise him for his decision.
Those, like Stag, who wanted him to just take the money and run, have been shown again that there is something more than money to be appreciated in football.
