With the current poor run of form…
Look at the bright side: at least the remaining fixtures will now keep our backsides firmly on the edge of the seat! Watching football with nothing at stake would be a bit boring wouldn’t it?!
It has also proved that the current Arsenal side is determined to substain the Arsenal TRADITION - we like to do things the HARD WAY!
Another bright side: At least it’s NOW we found out we have in fact got only THREE strikers (I included Adebayor as I grow to love this guy more and more, though he needs to improve his scoring touch). When everybody is healthy, we are probably living under illusion that Baptista and Aliadiere could do the job. ‘Cos as long as someone else score and we win the match, nobody would pay too much attention on how effective those two really are.
Now it’s the moment of truth, when we really need them. Aliadiere, for instance, can no longer complain he doesn’t get a fair chance. Sure, the pressure is hugh at the moment. But if you want to cut it in the Premiership, you got to deliever UNDER PRESSURE.
Although Wenger didn’t suggest otherwise, I firmly believe the pair are on the way out. And for those of you worry about new summer signing, don’t worry too much. Since when the last time when Wenger signed someone he would tell the world beforehead? Should, the Beast and Aliadiere really on the way out as I predict, Wenger WILL buy a new striker.
Like I say, it’s better to find out NOW the pair are as good as useless in terms of contribution to the team, then to find out middle of the next season.
Ok, my head agrees with Danny perhaps we won’t be able to win anything next season, but the best thing about the word “NEXT” season is another word “HOPE”. That’s what keep the fans from Arsenal to Lincoln, Exeter, everywhere all over the country, all over the world going - you always have this little voice inside of you saying “perhaps, this IS going to be our season”.
Who knows? When Wenger first arrived, he inherted an old, wash up team (on paper) with the captain and a star forward just declaired themselves as alcholic, drug addict… I thought it would take him at least 5 years to win anything for Arsenal. No… I am lying. In fact, I never heard of the name Arsene Wenger before at that time. I thought he wouldn’t have lasted 5 seasons…
Again.. who knows….

You might want to think twice about that one after the shower of shite Arsenal served up yesterday Andez.
I do not have any confidence in Wenger finding the right solution in the summer. Primarily because the whole team is under scrutiny in my view. Even the “untouchables” are not good enough. Gilberto is heralded as our best player this season but I also think he is not forceful enough a personality to command a place in our time. He was woeful yesterday and compounds the shabby spine in our team which is undermining our attacking game. Both him and Toure are jittery and tentative when leadership is needed, especially earlier in the game. Gilberto wakes up when it’s often too late.
Kolo Toure is another untouchable who is not good enough. He has other attributes but cannot do the basics. Eboue is a clown. Gael Clichy is just a bit stupid- no composure whatsover. Fabregas has become a parody of his former self. I know he’s tired but I don’t think can really be used as an excuse. He hasn’t been right all season for me.
This team needs a complete overhaul and one summer is not enough to make the necessary changes. Especially with Wenger growing more and more stubborn with age.

There is a team sitting at the very top of the table this year that was supposed to, according to the experts, be in 4th or 5th place this year and last as well.
Half their team was “past it” as you brits say. They needed a major overhall at the club and their talismanic manager needed to go.
What did they do? they sold Van Nistelroy, their top scorer and are now in the hunt for a treble.
My point is I don’t see much wrong with the team as a whole. Albeit i havent seen a game since PSV.
Aresenal are beat up, their confidence is destroyed, the first 11 didn’t get to play together once this year and the competition is getting better all the time. You can’t tell me that teams such as Bolton and Spurs are not extremly talented!
This team needs to finish the season lick their wounds and come out gunning for it again next year. If thats in the Uefa cup so what! we will demolish the teams in that tournament! that will help the confidence level and teach the kids how to win.
Some people have said the team won’t be able to sign good players if we drop out of the CL for a year and that others will ask to leave. Thats a complete load of crap. Juve kept half their team in Serie B. Barca built a CL winner with a couple of seasons in the Uefa cup.
Maybe my view is skewed because i’ve been unable to catch any games lately but all the match reports say the same thing as they have all year. or at least since RVP and TH14 have been out:
controlled the ball
missed a sitter or 2
couldn’t defend set pieces
and lastly, the other team scored on thier only real opportunity of the game.
That sounds like a lack of luck and confidence.
To me this run is one that will build character in the team. we will be better next year… mark my words. Even if Arsene takes the exact same squad into the season.
I love my sports; football (american and soccer) and baseball. But when the team loses it doesn’t ruin my day. I had to stop taking these things to heart a long time ago. With the american sports teams i support (minnesota vikings and tiwns) I’d of killed my self long ago!
