Decisions Wenger has to make in the summer.
Defence
Is the current set good enough? Toure’s aerial troubles are well documented. So are Senderos’ with pace and decision making. Djourou is raw. Clichy and Eboue are not the best defenders. But they could improve with time.
Options are
- no change and hope for the best
- get new CB and move Toure to the right or let Senderos leave
Wingers
Are Rosicky + Hleb + Ljunberg good enough? They lack both pace and width. They also don’t contribute many goals. Is Walcott the answer?
Options are
- no change and hope for the best
- get new winger and let Ljunberg leave
- get Reyes back and move Rosicky to the right
- move Eboue to the right wing
Strikers
Will Henry, RvP and Ade score enough goals or do we need another striker to compensate for the midfield? Note that only two strikers can be on the pitch at any time. Bendtner is also returning.
Options are
- no change and hope for the best
- get new striker and let Ade/Bendtner leave
Central Midfield
Are Gilberto + Cesc good enough to win a league title? After seeing Carrick + Scholes, anything is possible. But how to fit in Diaby and Denilson? Need to sort the CM between Gilberto, Cesc, Diaby, Denilson, Flamini, Song and Muamba.
Options are
- Keep Flamini, send Song and Muamba on loan
- Keep Song, let Flamini leave and send Muamba on loan
Personally, we need a winger and a GK if Lehmann leaves. I also feel we need one more player but can’t make up my mind if that should be a striker or CB.

We need coaching in defence. Yes we do need a winger. Reyes is not coming back.
how many times does the player need to say it him self before people listen!
It has been said many times and in many places that AW should have 20 mil to spend. The chairman has also said the club could come up with the funds for that one huge signing. The team also has a few players they can sell for a good profit.
So there is money to be spent, signings to be made, and most importantly a hugely talented club.
Arsenal have had some bad luck and the worst strech of form in how many years. A bad stretch happens to every team. Remember that liverpool only qualified for the CL the year after winning it BY WINNING IT. the finnished the league outside the top four.
AW is smart enough the Team is good enough and dog gone it people like them!

The way i see our squad for next season.
GK: Lehmann / GK
LB: Clichy / Traore
CB: CB / Senderos
CB: Gallas / Djourou
RB Toure / Hoyte / Gilbert
LM: LM / LM
DM: Gilberto / Song / Muamba
CM: Rosicky / Fabregas / Diaby / Denilson
RM: RM / Eboue
CF: Henry / CF / Walcott
CF: VanPersie / Adebayor / Bendter
Therefore, i think we need a GK, CB, 2 LM’s, RM and a CF. Thats 6 players. For GK, i suggest Akinfeev or Carson as back up to lehmann for 1 year and then take over when lehmann retires. We need a world class CB, i suggest Woodgate. i dunno about LM’s. Ribery is a must for RM. Saviola would be good for CF.
Players i would try sell or send back on loan or leaving on a free transfer: Almunia, Reyes, Ljungberg, Flamini, Hleb, Aliadidere, Baptista, Lupoli. I think hleb is a great player but hes being played out of position. We have way to many CM’s if we include him there.

The witch hunt of players does not solve anything, as injuries and suspensions sort that out.
Wenger needs to look at the teams formation.
Do we play 4 3 3 for example. or even 3 5 2.
We seem to have good CB’s, and good CM players.
The problem we have is width and how do we work around that.
Where is the width coming from.
One other point look at what is happening to the youth and reserves, defeat and lack of goals with plenty of chances. the form of the first team is catching.

The call went out to the kingdom, we need width! Bring us width and Arsenal will score it is reasoned. I too have called for width. But wait, who do we really expect on Arsenal, to score with those crosses? I’m waiting for a reply. {Silence} I thought so. That’s right, there is no one on this squad that has demonstrated the ability to score with their head in open play.
Your post emap amuses me. After criticizing the poster for a lack of substance, you call for “big wings”. The last time I watched Hamburg, van der Vaart was just another CM. Sneijder at Ajax, ditto. Surely you jest if you think Wenger should buy another two CM and ‘convert’ them as he has done with Hleb and Rosicky. I will grant you that van der Vaart and Sneijder are better scorers in their respective leagues. Right now, Klose could not hit the side of a barn. Bendtner will be our Klose and guess what, we own him.
“Lazy Adebayor”. Are you even watching these game? That comment is simply inane and I’m being kind today.

Emap - have you even watched an Arsenal game this season? Adebayor is many things - including not a very natural finisher - but lazy he is not. You also cannot suggest selling off a pretty hefty chunk of the team which would require buying ALOT of players, and by your way of thinking - better players. Where exactly are the funds going to come from to accomplish that?
