Coming soon….
As you know we had to redo a lot of the website over the last few weeks, made all the more horrendous by a computer hack into our system. We’re now pretty settled and back in business on a new machine, with new levels of security and the such so that we are now turning our attention to the registration system and other features we’ve wanted to impliment. We hope to integrate the registration system seemlessly with Paypal this year, so we won’t have to go through massive lists of emails and match them up to (non-matching) paypals and then print registration cards and lick the stamps and etc. We were simply overwhelmed last year and want to do better this year.
We hope to get something up very soon, so be sure to check back in the next week or so about our registration process for 07-08.

One other thing: we need a UK bank account.
Let me explain. We’d like to find a UK bank account to open a UK paypal account. This would then allow us to get a UK debit / charge card that would be billed IN POUNDS for all the purchases we make from Arsenal.
As individual US citizens residing in the USA, opening a bank account in the UK is essentially impossible (I’ve been trying and trying–no dice). If anyone knows how to do this, let us know.
Or if you know a way for us to form an ‘organization’ in the UK that could register for a bank account, we’d like that too.
Right now we buy tickets from Arsenal and they charge us in £s. Mastercard converts from £->$ (at a crappy rate) and then deducts it from our paypal. When we get these charges, we sometimes can’t even tell which game it is for (was that 10 tix at 44.50, or 15 at 35 pounds, because the conversion confuses everything).
In addition, many members pay in $, or pay in £s at the crappy paypal exchange rate. We have to do the calculations (ok, did the tickets they buy get charged at 1.95 to the $ or 1.86 to the $) and as you can imagine, it is a massive layer of confusion that we end up dumping on our ticket guru in London (sorry). With 100s of tickets a year, these slight variations in exchange rates end up getting confused and lost.
If we could do everything in £s, it would make our accounting considerably easier, so if anyone has an old account they don’t use (like one with £1 in it) or some other solution please drop me a line andrew@arsenalamerica.com
