Arsenal v. Manchester United - Previews S.F. Branch Meet-Up: Arsenal-ManUre Location Update
Nov 02

During a web-meeting of the Arsenal America board last night, I announced my decision to step down as President of Arsenal America effective immediately.  The amount of time I am able to commit has diminished considerably since my move to a new job in a new city back in June.  Therefore, the board conducted an internal vote, and has chosen Steve Rossen (aka DallasGooner) to take over as president effective immediately for a term that will last no less than the remainder of the 2007-08 season.

This May, a general election will be held for the following board positions: President, Secretary, Treasurer, Membership Secretary and Ticket Officer.   Nominations for those positions will be accepted beginning in late March, with the election to take place the first week of May.  Please bear in mind that board members are subject to a background check conducted by Arsenal FC.  So if you’ve got some double homicides or a severe drug problem that you’ve been hiding, it’s probably best that you don’t seek a nomination.  More details about the entire process will be provided by Steve in the coming weeks.

Before the conclusion of last night’s meeting, the remaining members of the board  asked me to stay on as the lead website editor and as member of the board in an ex-officio capacity, which I am happy to do.    Please continue to contact me at mikek AT arsenalamerica DOT com for any website related matters.

Please join me in welcoming Steve in his new role as President of Arsenal America.  He’s currently traveling abroad right now, but will be introducing himself to you all very soon.  Steve can be reached at steve.rossen AT arsenalamerica DOT com.

It’s been an honor serving as President for these past three years, and I look forward to continuing to serve the members of Arsenal America for years to come.

Sincerely,

Mike Kavanagh

As my primary contact since joining AA, I’ve always found you to be a conscientious, dedicated and good-humored Gooner. Not only that, by installing me as the San Francisco Branch Manager, you’ve shown yourself to be a sterling judge of character. ;-)

Your contributions to AA are many, and I’m glad to hear you’re not abandoning us completely and will still be around to respond to my occasional, “Uh Mike, how do I . . .?” And if you’re every in the Bay Area, the drinks are on me.

Welcome aboard Steve! You’ve got some big boots to fill, but I look forward to working with you!

Thanks Mark. I’m still hoping to make it to a Bay Area gathering some year!

On behalf of the rest of the board I would like to thank Mike for what he did for us and am glad he will be keeping the website up dates etc under his belt.

I would also like to welcome Steve and wish him well in taking Arsenal America forward.

Mike, thanks for all you have done for the group. This is actually my first post on the website, but I’ve been a member for a couple years. I first met up with Mike and the other Chicago based Gooners two years ago when we played the ManU supporters before the game. Even though I bombarded him with emails, Mike was very helpful and I appreciated that.
I look forward to seeing the Chicago Gooners at the Globe tomorrow morning.

I think Mike has done a fantastic job of keeping this website running and for that I’m glad to see that you will continue to work on that. I’m also glad that you will still be involved as a board member as you will certainly be able to add some insight to the what’s been going on.

I welcome Steve as well and hope that the transition will go smoothly.

    Thanks again Mike!
