Steve Goodman originally hails from Virginia, but made the move to Maryland over a decade ago. He began following Arsenal of the Fox Soccer Channel when it was still known as Fox Sports World, and round about 2005, was appointed Baltimore Branch Manager.
Not simply content to follow football, Steve is also a member of My Football Club, the group which bonded together to buy Ebbsfleet United Football Club, located in Kent.

According to Steve, Gooners in the Baltimore area usually head to Slainte Irish Pub to watch the matches, as it was voted “the best place to watch soccer and rugby”.

Slainte Irish Pub
1702 Thames Street
Baltimore, MD 21231
410-563-6600
Other venues for viewing include:
The James Joyce Pub
616 S. President Street
Baltimore, MD 21202
410-727-5107
Tír na nÓg
201 East Pratt Street
Baltimore, MD 21202
410-483-8968
Steve counts amongst his favorite Arsenal moments, “any match involving Thierry Henry”, and lauds Arsenal supporters as a “great group”, saying, no matter where I travel in the world, I always run into fans of the club”. Steve also enjoys following Portsmouth, saying, “I grew up in their sister city and have always had an affection for the town”.
Steve’s Branch Manager goals for 2008, include finding venues in Baltimore County that air the matches and organizing more meet-ups to watch the matches, so if you’re anywhere near Charm City, drop him a line.

Hey Steve - Just moved to Baltimore a few months ago - and it’s a shame we haven’t had a chance to meet up yet. As far as places to watch games in Balt. Co, there’s Ryan’s Daughter just off of Northern Pkwy, and of course, my house!
Drop me a line sometime - mikek@arsenalamerica.com.

Do any other places advertise the matches they air? Slainte does a pretty good job of that. I don’t mind driving downtown, but living in Baltimore County, it would be nice to know of a place that aired matches.

Hey there! I met some folks from the Baltimore Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA) who mentioned Ryan’s Daughter. I have an email in with them to see if I can add them to the directory.
The guy from the GAA told me that he thought Ryans Daughter only showed replays of games on Tuesdays and Thursdays. If I hear any different I’ll be sure to add that to the info.
Au Potin Still, the other Irish pub in Baltimore County, advises they don’t get Fox Soccer Channel or GolTV so they don’t feature any games.

Any Gooners here in the Northern Virginia (Reston/Sterling/Ashburn) Area? I’m a Gooner fan since 1988 when I lived in London and have experienced a revitalization of my fan-dom over the past few years now that all games are able to be seen live on TV… but I feel like I’m the only one!
Always prefer to watch games with other fans but it’s hard to find out here without trekking into DC or close-in Arlington…

Quick Baltimore County update: so far I’m still coming up empty. I have contacted a few places and so far none of them get Setanta or Fox Soccer Channel. I have not been to Ryans Daughter yet, however they are not showing up on Setanta’s web site as a pub using their service.
As for the Richmond question: I used to live in that area and still have friends there. No one is aware of any pubs in Henrico County that carry FSC but they will ask around. Be sure to also check on the http://www.bigsoccer.com web site.

Attention Gunner fans in the Harford County area. Looneys Pub in Bel Air Maryland receives Fox Soccer Channel and features it on some of their many TV screens. I was up there a couple of weeks ago and enjoyed a match while sitting at the bar. Here is their web site address:

Be sure to check them out!
