I missed yesterday’s yawn-fest due to a huge divisional meeting we had at the office.  I was complaining at the time, but I suppose I came out ahead, considering there were free drinks at the end of the meeting.

Arsene overhauled the starting eleven, and Slavia were quite determined to give a better account of themselves after the 7-0 drubbing of a fortnight ago.   All indications are that a point a piece was a fair result.  Having now clinched qualification, the Gunners can concentrate on the Premiership and the upcoming journey to Reading on Monday.  Kickoff is 3 PM ET, and...

A cracker of a game against last year’s champs and we gave as good as we got. I thought it was a very even game and 2-2 a fair result; it wouldn’t have been fair for either side to lose. Cesc is left at home for the Prague game which is good since scoring big goals against two big teams and running non-stop would have taken a lot out of him and he wouldn’t have been as hungry…this could be rubbish but that’s how human psychology works IMO. Either way he gets a well-deserved rest. Hleb has earned his rest too - he has been magnificent this season wherever he has...

In response to Ferguson’s latest outburst, I’d like to ask: Would just having a cap on foreign players be enough? No, No, I say. Man U and Ferguson, you guys deserve more. How about:

(1) Allowing Man Utd to arrange the fixture list?

(2) Allowing Man Utd to choose the referee for each one of their matches.

(3) Allowing Man Utd to set up all the rules and regulations for the Premiership?

(4) No home crowd is allowed whenever Man Utd is playing away, for “security measures”.

(5) Any opposing supporters who dare to celebrate a late goal...

Buried amidst the swirl of coverage surrounding the match on Saturday, the draw for the quarterfinals of the league cup was held on Saturday, and Arsenal were drawn away to Blackburn.  The same Blackburn who knocked the Gunners out of the FA Cup last season.  I’d imagine that Arsene will stick to the youngsters for this one, but it’ll be a tough test to be sure.

The match takes place at Ewood Park on December 18th at 3PM ET.  No word yet on whether it will be televised here in the US.

An injury time goal from captain William Gallas gave Arsenal a 2-2 tie and kept the Gunners at the top of the table. Gallas, who scored an own goal in the first half, saved the draw after a goalmouth scramble in the dying minutes of the match.

ManUre led 1-0 at the half, Cesc equalized early in the 2nd, but Cristiano Ronaldo put the Gunners behind in the 82nd minute, setting up the game’s frantic conclusion.

A point won or two lost?

Just spoke to the Kezar Pub which (as local Gooners may know) has the same ownership as Mad Dog in the Fog and they informed me that Mad Dog in the Fog will NOT be opening early for the match.

However, both Maggie McGarrys in North Beach and Kezar Pub will be opening in time for the 5:45am start.

So far, most of the Bay Area Gooners I have been in contact with are planning on
going to Maggie McGarrys. There is even an effort afoot to make this pub a Bay Area Gooner stronghold.

Regrettably, your S.F. Branch Manager will be unable to attend, but wanted to give Bay Area...

During a web-meeting of the Arsenal America board last night, I announced my decision to step down as President of Arsenal America effective immediately.  The amount of time I am able to commit has diminished considerably since my move to a new job in a new city back in June.  Therefore, the board conducted an internal vote, and has chosen Steve Rossen (aka DallasGooner) to take over as president effective immediately for a term that will last no less than the remainder of the 2007-08 season.

This May, a general election will be held for the following board positions: President, Secretary,...

Editor’s note: Two previews of this one, clearly the match of the week and of the season to date. One of our prognosticators is pretty confident…

From live_dont_exist:
Sadly I missed the Sheffield game due to it not being shown live but the Liverpool game told me a huge lot about our side. A bit more luck and we’d have got the three points. Still a point at Anfield is not bad at all. Another biggie coming up this weekend and this always gets me going. Each time I see this fixture put up my mind goes back to that Rooney dive and the Gary...

Thanks to everyone who entered yesterday’s t-shirt giveaway, sponsored by our friends at Arseshirts.com.

Surprisingly, only thirteen people had the correct answer, which of course was Coventry City 0 - 1 Arsenal on Halloween, October 31, 1998.

My co-worker, Lynn, picked three names out of the hat, and so congratulations go to:

Craig Anderson, Dave Yong, and Nick Heslip

I’ll be contacting you three gentlemen later on today.

Thanks again to Arseshirts.com,...
