AA SF Branch Meet-up: Arsenal vs. Birmingham Match Viewing The final hurdle??
Jan 14

No internet access at home since Thursday makes Mike a very grumpy man. Being on the phone with Comcast a total of 4.5 hours over that same time frame makes Mike almost unbearable to be around. Having to leave work early today in order to let the technicians in to figure out what’s wrong leaves me fuming.

Yet, that doesn’t compare to what it must have been like to be around me immediately following Saturday’s game against Birmingham City. I know you guys have all discussed it already, but if I might vent for just a second.

I think Arsene nailed it on the head when he said that he thought the players seemed to think it would be easy to beat Birmingham. He’s absolutely right, and I’m glad he called them on it.

We’ve got a week to sort it out, and I hope we annihilate Fulham, 7-0 or 8-0 will suit me just fine.

OK, rant over. Stay tuned for an LDE post coming up in a few moments…

Mike I wish it were that simple. However once Birmingham scored EARLY in the second half you would feel that our players knew what they had to do and tried to step up their game. However they tried but we did not look like we were capable of breaking the Brums down until the last ten minutes or so when we looked likely to score. If they had equalised in the last minute I would probably agreed with Wenger and said yeah we should have killed them off but we thought we were cruising and would win anyway. However I hope Wenger’s words will have a psychologicaleffect on the players which will empower them to be more intense in future games. We will need that intensity to win at Old Trafford.

It seems to me that the difference in our recent performances is that Cesc and Hleb were on fire the beginning of the season but since their injuries they have not been as good which has affected our offensive capabilities. We will need to get back on song ASAP or risk loosing ground on Man Ure and Chelski catching us up. However I am still believing we have got what it takes to win the title and hopefully the CL as well!
