I find the prospect of a roadtrip to Rome (March 11th) and Emirates (March 14th) too good to pass up. Anyone else planning on going to either game? Not sure where possible roadtrips are discussed here so I’ll just post and see what happens.

2 players who have stood up and be counted
Note: submitted prior to Everton’s game
To be honest, when news came out that Fabregas would be out for 4 months, I thought we would struggle big time. So I am very surprised by Arsenal’s recent 8 matches unbeaten run.
Some may still be pointing fingers on our performance. But let’s be realistic, with so many key players out injuried, you cannot possibly expect the team to go out there destroying teams in style. It’s bread and butter time, all about getting result.
The starting lineup in our latest two victories were probably one of our weakest ever on paper during the Wenger regin. We lost our key midfield playmaker. We had a goalkeeper who couldn’t control his six yard box, let alone the penalty box. We had zero pace down the flank. One of our central half Djourou had never been a first team regular before prior to this season. The same goes to our two central midfielders Denilson and Diaby, both only became the first team regulars this season.
Yet somehow, we have had a consistent run of, if not form, at least result, the past few weeks. You have to give the lads credit for that.
And much credits, in my opinion, have to go to two players – van Persie and Nasri.
I weren’t happy with van Persie’s early season form, felt that he could have contributed more. Yet fair play to him, he really stood up and be counted when the team now need him most.
Bendtner and Nasri may have scored the crucial goals in the past two wins, but all of them were created by van Persie. And the Dutch striker really came out and fight, displayed a sense of urgency we didn’t see from him early of the season.
Nasri is another guy who stepped forward and took the responsibility to carry the team. He took up the midfield creative role left behind by Cesc, and organized the midfield admirably. Nasri is basically playing the role of Hleb last season at the moment, only, it hasn’t taken him 3 seasons to achieve that.
Wenger may not have bought as many players as some people wish, yet those he bought in recent years are absoutely quality. At the end of the day, it’s not about how many players a manager bought, it’s about how GOOD the players he bought.
Everton v Arsenal
Big match today, especially after ManUre and Villa each picked up three points yesterday. There’s talk of Gallas coming back into the side, but should he? Will the Arshavin crap prove a distraction? Will Arteta start?
