Greetings from the Ann Arbor Branch!

Hello Gooner Nation,

I’ve been in contact with Arsenal America’s President, David Kilpatrick over the past few weeks, and it appears that an Ann Arbor, MI branch has been given a green light.

A little bit about how things got started:

I’m Brian Marentay, a freshman at U of M, who became an Arsenal fan after a trip to London a couple of years ago.  Then when attending a Champions League Semi-Final match-viewing party last year, I was amazed at how many Arsenal fans there are are in Ann Arbor!

Thus it seemed a good idea to get an official branch started to keep the fan base organized – after all, the more people at a match-viewing party, the better!

Anybody located in the Ann Arbor area interested in helping manage the group can shoot me an E-mail or look for our group on Facebook.

Looking forward to hearing from all the Ann Arbor Gooners!

2009 Arsenal America Road Trip

Road Trip . . . Christmas in London!

The time has come once again to travel across the pond for the Arsenal America Road Trip.  We have just received word from the fine folks at Arsenal that our Road Trip is a GO!  We have obtained tickets for a lucky group of Arsenal America supporters to attend the following matches:

Matches

Arsenal (H) v. Aston Villa – Saturday, December 26th

Portsmouth v. Arsenal (A) – Monday, December 28th

Arsenal v. TBD (FA Cup) – Saturday, January 2nd

portsmouth-v-arsenal

This year’s schedule made it difficult to get multiple matches in one week.  Many of you wanted to see a Road Trip during a time when they could use vacation time.  The games we picked fit the bill nicely.  You do not have to attend all of the matches to be a part of the Arsenal America Road Trip.  You can see a combination of the matches (i.e. Villa and Portsmouth or Portsmouth and FA Cup).

The Details

This trip will be based off of a first come, first serve basis.  We have access to a larger number of tickets for the Aston Villa home game and the FA Cup game.  The Portsmouth game is away, which means we won’t have access to as many tickets (10-15), just as an FYI.  This means that you might get to see the Villa game at home and the FA Cup game (Team and venue TBD) but not the Portsmouth game.

Activities

We will be arranging a tour of Emirates Stadium sometime during the week between games.  There will be a number of pre-match events, tours, mini-trips, and such during your time in London, so know that you will have plenty of options around this trip.

Arsenal America Supporters Club Classic Football Game

Something new to this year’s trip will be a competitive game of footie between Arsenal America and a European Arsenal supporters club.  This is sure to be a fantastic time of football, Arsenal banter, and hanging out in jolly old England.

Non-Negotiable

  1. In order to request tickets for the Arsenal America Road Trip you must be a PAID member of Arsenal America.  No membership, no Road Trip.
  2. You must reside in the US or Canada to request tickets for this trip.  You cannot purchase tickets through Arsenal America for co-workers, London-ers, etc.

Costs

I usually get a number of e-mails asking about the costs of this kind of trip.  Here is what your trip might look like:

  • Airfare – New York to London Heathrow – $700/Per Person
  • Hotel – 6 nights – $120 – $160/Per Night ($200 + for nicer hotels)
  • Food and Drink – $20$50/Per Day
  • Transit – $30-$50 airport travel and $20-$50 for the Tube
  • Arsenal Tickets – $80 – $120/Per Game.  The ticket price depends on what Arsenal allocates us.  We will require payment for the tickets just like we do with our normal ticketing process.

So, you would be looking at $2,000 + or – or so for two adults to attend this Road Trip.  The cost can vary widely based off of hotels, airfare, food, etc.  If you are interested in going, please e-mail me at josh@arsenalamerica.com
