Arsenal launch official USA website

A new page on the official Arsenal website was launched today, targeted at the US fan: http://www.arsenal.com/usa

From the site designer:
“In addition to the regular news, reports, and interviews you’ve come to expect from Arsenal.com, the new USA site will provide backgrounders and special features geared to the American audience.”

Check it out!

Arsenal v. Wigan . . . Updates . . . and More

Hopefully the disdain that we have had in our mouths has subsided from last Saturday’s debacle at The City of Manchester Stadium.

The reality is that we are only 4 games into the season.  We have had a number of injuries, and candidly, our game has been a bit off since we played Manchester United.

Arsenal v Wigan

Be that as it may, we have everything to play for, and let’s not forget . . . we are THE ARSENAL!

If you are interested in viewing the match on Saturday, check out our local branch listings to find the best place to cheer for your beloved Gunners.  Don’t forget the match starts at 10:00AM EDT.  For those of you out West . . . that makes for an early game.  But with some coffee, and a great squad, you can make it.

The Arsenal America 2009 Road Trip is coming together nicely.  There are a few slots left for all matches, so let me know if you are interested.  You can e-mail me at josh@arsenalamerica.com.

Arsenal v. Aston Villa - Saturday, December 26th, 2009 (We lost this match last year, and I know the Gunners will be out for blood!)

Portsmouth v. Arsenal - Monday, December 28th, 2009

Arsenal v. TBD (FA Cup) - Saturday, January 1st, 2010 (We could end up drawing a number of different squads, but this match is always a delight to watch . . . it is the oldest football trophy in England)

For those of you that remember, we have been working diligently on a new site layout.  The end is near.  With some great work with our IT partner, we are close to the new layout.  We hope to have it up before the end of November.  Keep your eyes peeled!

We are working on a number of regional events ranging from football tournaments, blood drives, and other Arsenal/football related events.

This is a great year to be a part of Arsenal America, and a great year to get involved.  We have added several new branches to our growing family of Gooners in America:

Des Moines, Iowa

Ann Arbor, Michigan

Oklahoma City, Oklahoma

Give us your feedback about events, trips, site enhancements, etc (josh@arsenalamerica.com).  This is your supporters club!  See you at the far post.

Eugene Conway, RIP

Eugene Conway

Many many Gooners know and love Eugene Conway. Having moved to Alabama, he was recently diagnosed with cancer and was struggling with treatment without any health insurance coverage.

A benefit is scheduled for 17 October at the Rocket on Holloway Rd from 6pm-midnight following the Birmingham City match.

We’ve just received word that Euge passed away at 3:30 this morning.

We will have an update as soon as we learn more and have an address for Gooners to offer their sympathies and/or make a contribution.
