We need some more Sol . . . Bolton v. Arsenal

Cesc v Bolton

It feels like a month since we last saw our Gunners take the pitch versus the Toffees (which by the way was last week).  I also feel that football on Sunday’s is . . . well, not normal.  I love to get up on Saturday, soak in all that is Arsenal, and then mosie on through the rest of my day . . . pontificating on all things Arsenal.  Isn’t that what everyone does?   All these games on Sunday . . . it just confuses everyone.  A Gooner that comes to matches in Bmore all the time got all flipped around, and ended up at a 4H meeting.  No one should be riding side saddle on Saturday’s . . . and I mean no-one!   Someone has to step in and say enough is enough.

Riding Side Saddle

Sol Campbell has rejoined with the club through the end of the season.  In what is to be a first for Arsene (signing a player after he has left and moved on to other teams), I hope that this move provides the stability (with regards to backups) and “leadership” that we have needed in the back.  I rate Gallas and Vermaelen, but we still seem a bit shakey on the back line.  Sol has been with some of the most amazing Arsenal sides in the past decade.  I for one am glad he is back, and will help me to shake the night sweats that I have when thinking about Silvestre ee ee  e . . . see, I can’t even type his name without getting scared . . . I start shaking uncontrollably.

Ok, so I have gotten that off my chest (awkward . . . ).  On to the match.  Arsenal travel to the Reebok Stadium, which ironically is not a shoe, and take on Bolton.  Before you get all excited, this is not the make up match from the beginning of the year.  This is one of the many other matches that we will be playing against Bolton in the coming week.  For those of you that remember the Bolton of just a few years ago, they have proved a difficult side for our Gunners to beat.  In many instances they have been downright annoying.  I wonder if Owen Coyle has been teaching them the art of bus parking.  We shall know soon enough.  Teams have a tendency to bounce back when they loose a manager and pick up a new one.  Much like Adebayor, Owen Coyle has made more than a few enemies leaving a team that he was just getting warmed up with.  Owen Coyle has been a tough adversary for Arsene these past two years.  We were knocked out of the Carling Cup last season at his hands, and were denied 3 points just a few months ago, when he was at the helm for Burnley.  This is also the same manager that took 3 points off of Manchester United earlier in the season.

Prayerfully Arsene has sat the lads down and said, “ello . . . don’t let their character, integrity, prosperity, rigidity, fluidity, scare you.”  If they stay focused and treat this team as a real threat, this won’t be a scary game for all of us.  If they think that Bolton are just going to roll over . . . well, we might all spend this morning yelling at the television.  Cesc will be joining the lads for the first time since his miracle appearance on the pitch against Aston Villa, and our very own Gael Clichy will be on the bench for the first time in several months.  So, the injuries are finally healing up, and we can now get back to the business of winning games.

For those of you that remember, Arsenal took on Bolton just two short seasons ago, and were on the trail of a number of draws that saw us slip from first in the league to second, and then third (remember . . . Eduardo broke his leg . . . ah, I see your head nodding now).  This was our first win in weeks, and provided us with one of the greatest come from behind games I have ever seen.  Diaby was sent off early in the game for a reckless tackle, and Bolton went into the half 2 nil up.  Our lads battled back, and pulled out an amazing and lucky win.  Let’s hope that we don’t see that today.

So, onwards and upwards.  Make sure to check with your local branch manager for viewing times and locaitons.  Enjoy your Sunday, and remember . . . Arsene knows!

COME ON YOU GUNNERS!

The Villa match (Jan 27) is key: it begins a string of four games when we will know if this is a strong Arsenal team. Villa (A), United (H), Chelsea (A), and Liverpool (H): probably the toughest four-game stretch of any team in the Premier League this year. If we survive it, we will be on our way to a trophy. If we come out of this stretch with two or more defeats, it will not bode well for our championship hopes.

    Come on you Arsenal!
