As Arsenal fans we get used to the beautiful pitch of Highbury, which, I believe, was voted top pitch in the Premiership last season. Well, they do things a bit differently over at Stamford Bridge. Chelsea beat Charlton on the weekend on what could charitably be called a less than optimal playing surface. In fact, it was a beach.

Chelsea are laying down a new pitch as we speak and figured they’d get a jump on things by covering the entire field in sand last Friday. They failed to mention this little bit of information to the folks at Charlton. As one would imagine, playing on sand is...

What’s the fun of having rivals if you can’t laugh at their failings?

Spurs went down easier than a cool drink on a hot summer’s day to Southampton on the weekend, losing 4-0 in the FA Cup. Congrats Spurs, your season is now officially over!

Not to be outdone, Liverpool lost in the Worthington Cup yesterday to some team, I can’t even remember which. Ha ha.

Maybe it was the heartbreaking loss in the FA Cup Final in 2001, or maybe we just like kickling people when they are down, so let’s say hello to our friends at Liverpool.

Join us as we take a trip back to those days of yore, say ten weeks ago. Liverpool were looking good, Arsenal were struggling and the Reds saw glory in their future.

Fast forward to today, when Liverpool has taken a massive four points out of a possible 30. That’s one win and one draw (against us) in their last 10 EPL matches!

“This time last week Liverpool were feeling pretty good about themselves. A four point lead in the Premiership and only silly little Swiss side Basel stood between them and advancing to the next round of the Champions League.

Enter banana peels…

First they lose on the weekend, their first in league competition and now they only hold a one point lead. Then Basel slams in three against them, in the first half. A lead Liverpool needed to overcome but couldn’t.

Last month we found out how quickly things can change. Now it’s their turn.”

“Sure, Sir Alex Ferguson’s side won their opening Champions League game. But who did they beat? Don’t ask sir Alex…

(From the Guardian)

It is the burning question in football: is Sir Alex Ferguson losing the plot? Mysterious team selections, puzzling signings and volcanic outbursts have all been a feature of Manchester United’s worst start to a Premiership season and even his most ardent fans might waver after his extraordinary faux pas yesterday. Before United’s first ever match with Maccabi Haifa tonight Ferguson was holding a press briefing at Old...

“Yesterday proved just how tough the Premiership can be. Spurs looked certain to go back to the top of the table, leading 2-0 in the second half against Fulham. Then Junichi Inamoto (remember him) pulled one back and Fulham poured in two more to nip Hoddle’s boys 3-2.

Things got better when Liverpool, up 2-0 in the second half proceeded to give up to and could only get a draw against Birmingham City.

Already a pretty good day, but then Bolton went to Old Trafford and grabbed a 1-0 victory.

To round out the day, Newcastle lost 2-0 at home to Leeds.”

“When a championship team, top selling music group or hit TV show ends its run, it usually isn’t pretty. The Chicago Bulls fell apart when Jordan left. John married Yoko, became a tree-hugger and the band split up. Suzanne Sommers doesn’t even speak to John Ritter and Joyce DeWitt anymore.

It looks as if Man United will soon join this list of great things that crashed in a fiery ball of sniping, back-biting, finger-pointing, name-calling and all around nastiness.

It started last season as Sir Alex seemed to go from managerial genius to borderline nutjob. His pronouncements,...
