Happy St. Totteringham’s Day

Lost in the quasi-disappointment of yesterday’s draw was the fact that with the point gained, it is now impossible for Spurs to finish ahead of Arsenal in the table. With that, we provide a public service to aid in the enjoyment of the occasion:

INGREDIENTS

  • 9 lasagna noodles
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 pound bulk Italian sausage
  • 1 (16 ounce) can sliced mushrooms, drained
  • 1 teaspoon garlic salt
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1/4 teaspoon dried basil
  • 4 (15 ounce) cans tomato sauce
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 (15 ounce) container ricotta cheese
  • 3 eggs, beaten
  • 1/3 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 pound shredded mozzarella cheese

DIRECTIONS

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
  2. Bring a large pot of lightly salted water to a boil. Add the lasagna noodles and olive oil; cook until al dente, 8 to 10 minutes; drain.
  3. Cook the ground beef and sausage in a large pot over medium heat; drain. Stir in the mushrooms, garlic salt, oregano, thyme, basil, and tomato sauce. Season with salt and pepper; simmer 30 minutes.
  4. Meanwhile, mix together the ricotta cheese, eggs, and Parmesan cheese in a bowl.
  5. Ladle enough of the meat sauce into a 9×13 inch baking dish to cover the bottom in a thin layer. Form a layer atop the sauce with 3 of the lasagna noodles. Spread about 1/4 of the ricotta cheese mixture over the noodles. Sprinkle about 1/3 of the mozzarella cheese over the ricotta cheese mixture and then ladle about 1/3 of the meat sauce over the mozzarella cheese. Repeat layering twice more, topping with the remaining 1/4 pound of mozzarella cheese.
  6. Bake in preheated oven 90 minutes. Allow to sit 10 to 15 minutes before serving.

“Lasagna, whoa….”

Arsenal 3 – 1 Sp*rs

Keane talked smack but Arsenal domination marches on.

The story of this match was manager substitutions. Wenger brings on Rosicky to replace a player on the “periphery” (-Andy Gray), Walcott. He immediately energizes the Arsenals attack, setting up Adebayor (77), then scoring the clincher (22 ET). That was the MOTM performance. Rosicky was that senior element Arsenal needed to drive the goals and win this game.

Jol on the other hand subbed out Gardner (yellow card) and brought on his shiny new CB Rocha. Rocha slipped with his clearance which allowed Aliadiere to pounce for a ripper (15 ET) to go up 2-1.Sp*rs only goal came after Denilson gave up a FK which allowed Mido to out-jump Toure for the header.

Spuds 2 – 2 Arsenal

(Ed. Note – If Spurs take a two goals – nil lead and they still can’t peg us back, the Spursenfreude icon must be displayed. I think Nelson from the Simpsons said it best, “Ha ha!” It’s bad enough that poor lass supports (supported?) Spurs, but they even make her cry.)

After a dire opening twenty minutes, the gulf in class shone through as two goals from The Beast earned Arsenal a draw in the first leg of the League Cup Semi-Final at Shite Hart Lane this afternoon.

Those away goals will be a nice cushion going into next Wednesday’s return leg at the Grove. It’ll be interesting to see if Arsene names the same side as today’s match, or if he decides to start some more first-team players.
