Although it’s not yet on Arsenal.com, according to multiple sites, including the player’s own website, Samir Nasri has joined Arsenal from Marseille for a fee somewhere near 20 million Euros.

The “next Zidane” is widely seen as a replacement for Alex Hleb who may now be going to Germany instead of Spain or Italy if you believe the latest rumors.

Still anyone’s guess what squad number the Frenchman will get, but given that he’s an attacking...

At last, some real Arsenal news to report! The first signing of the close-season has been confirmed today as latest teen sensation (Am I talking footballers or pop stars? hard to tell eh?), Aaron Ramsey signed a “long-term contract for an undisclosed fee”. (Gotta love how we do business, right?)

Anyway, the best part of this story is of course how the young Welshman turned down a move to ManUre in favor of Arsenal. Shows smarts right off the bat. Whether that translates onto the football pitch will have to wait a few more weeks at the very least.

AC Milan have today announced that Mathieu Flamini has signed a 4-year deal to play in Serie A starting on June 1. The Frenchman leaves Arsenal on a free, as he is out of contract with the Gunners. What this means for Arsenal going forward is perfect debate fodder, so have at it. I for one think we’ll be fine without him. He was a great player for us in midfield this past season, and did the job at the back when Wenger needed him in 06, but, like Gloria Gaynor and the Grateful Dead, we will survive.

Arsenal were today drawn against Liverpool for the quarter-finals of the UEFA Champions League. The first leg will take place at the Grove on either Tuesday April 1 or Wednesday April 2, with the second taking place at Anfield a week later.

Looking at the fixture list, the draw means that the two clubs will face each other three times in as few as eight days, as Liverpool also visit the Grove for a league match on Saturday April 5.

The winner of this tie will face the winner of the Chelsea-Fenerbache matchup in the semi-finals.

The draw in full:

All Bay Area Gooners (AA members & non-members alike) are invited to join the San Francisco Branch at Maggie McGarrys, this Saturday, February 2nd at 9:00AM PST for the Arsenal - Manchester City match.

Maggie McGarrys, a pub in North Beach regularly shows Premiership action on their 5 flat-screen televisions.

Come try a Walcott (orange juice and Hefeweizen)! Maggie’s is great place to catch the matches with other Bay Area Gooners!

PLEASE NOTE: Since actual match time is 4:45 AM PST, Maggie’s is showing it on tape-delay, and we cannot guarantee...

In the draw for the fifth round of the FA Cup which took place just moments ago in London, Arsenal were drawn away to Man United.

The match will take place the weekend of February 16/17, and you’ve got to figure that with a glamour tie such as this, it’ll be on Setanta PPV, but nothing’s certain yet.

One thing is certain, that’s going to be one hell of week...

The draw for the fourth round of the FA Cup was held just a short while ago in London, and Arsenal were drawn at home against the winner of the Stoke v Newcastle replay.

Fourth round ties will take place the weekend of January 26/27.  No word yet on whether there will be any TV coverage here in the US.

OK, Bay Area Gooners, it’s derby time, so come on down to cheer the Gunners on against Spurs!

Saturday, December 22,  2007
Match time is 4:45AM PST but Maggie’s is showing it (tape-delayed) at 8:00AM.

Maggie McGarrys, a pub in North Beach regularly shows Premiership action on their 5 flat-screen televisions, and anyone who’s heard the bartender, Patrick’s tales of the football he saw growing up in England, knows it’s a great place to catch a match!  Maggie’s is fast becoming Arsenal headquarters for Bay Area Gooners!

It’s Spurs.

We all knew it would be, and sure enough, Arsenal were drawn  against Spurs for the semi-final round of the Carling Cup.  The semi-final is a two-legged tie, and the first match will take place at the Grove on either the 8th or 9th of January, while the second will be at Spurs the week of January 21st.

In the other tie, it’s Chelsea v Everton, so a rematch of last year’s controversial final is still a possibility.
