Stoke 0-0 Arsenal: Match Report

Arsenal started match day two against Stoke in a much more promising way as they had the better of possession; however both teams failed to create any clear cut chances.

Before the start of the game , the Gunners were rocked by the news of their first choice Wojciech Szczesny’s rib injury while Lukas Fabianski was still struggling with a back problem so Vito Mannone stepped in for his first Premier League appearance since the 2-2 draw at West Ham in October 2009. In all fairness he had little or nothing to do throughout the entire duration of the game.

Get What You Deserve

On Monday night, Arsene Wenger’s men pulled off their 4th consecutive comeback victory in the Premier League to set a new record.  Having found themselves 1-0 down, Arsenal, through Robin van Persie, equalized inside a minute, Arsenal bossed the rest of the match, and in the dying seconds, TV5 came up with the goods to give them all three points.  For a team derided for a lack of mental fortitude or resolve, they sure have thrown that in the faces of the media lately, haven’t they? Thrashing . . . Yes Please

A huge North London derby between Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal on Sunday preceded this glorious Monday morning.  There was plenty of pessimism before kickoff in the Arsenal supporters groups as our recent exit from the FA Cup and hammering in Milan were both fresh in the memory.  Few could argue with the general thought that the Gunners were underdogs going into this match.  However, the 5-2 result may have been the perfect tonic for some of our recent troubles.
